Refried Beans with Cilantro Garlic Sauce


Cilantro Garlic Sauce

  • ½ cup mayo
  • ½ head cilantro
  • 1 jalapeno, seeded and diced
  • 1 lime, juiced

Refried Beans

  • 1 can pinto beans (not drained)
  • ¼ teaspoon cumin
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • Pinch of pepper


  • Sea Salt Solula Tostones
  • Cilantro, to garnish
  • Jalapeno slices, to garnish
  • Lime slices, to garnish



  1. Make the sauce by placing all ingredients into a food processor. Pulse until completely combined and no big chunks remain.
  2. Make the refried beans by combining all ingredients into a small saucepan over medium heat. Once simmering, use a potato masher to mash the beans. Reduce the heat to medium-low and allow to simmer for about 5-10 minutes, mashing every minute or so, or until completely thickened up. (The beans will seem runny at first, but will thicken up, so be patient!) Taste and adjust salt if needed.
  3. Pour the refried beans into a serving dish and drizzle desired amount of the sauce over top. Garnish if desired, and serve immediately with tostones!
